Greetings from Playa Hermosa!

The entire team has come together in Playa Hermosa and we have settled in to the Villa for our first couple of days. The Villa is a beautiful oasis in the heart of the peaceful beach town of Playa Hermosa on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. As we finalize our plans and put together an itinerary of incredible activities, we have been eating Costa Rican food like gallo pinto, swimming at the playa, and listening to the sounds of birds and the occasional howler monkey.

In Silencio, the locals are preparing the Salon Comunal for the students’ arrival. With a full two weeks of work ahead, they are ensuring that our experience is one full of excitement and interaction with the community. Andrew, Lisa, and Sarah-Graham have been contacting locals, getting the work sites ready, and creating a delicious menu alongside the cooks that will combine both American and Costa Rican foods!

At the Villa, la jefa Ansley has been on top of her game, getting Jesus, Mac, and Sophie to organize an epic program involving snorkeling, surfing, beach hikes, market visits, and more! Everyone is enthusiastically learning new skills and talents, brushing up on our Costa Rica trivia, and perfecting our harmonizing abilities so we can sing our hearts out all summer.

We are super excited to have everyone on board, and in only a few short days, the whole 2015 Foundations Costa Rica crew will be here. We know this will be a summer for the ages. How can it not be with such a stellar crew of students with whom we get the privilege to share this experience?!? We cannot wait to meet everyone in the Liberia airport on Sunday!
